Day 14 - March 07 2010

Day 14 - March 07 2010

Hello World,

Given that tonight is oscar night, I will not post my own pictures but rather those taken on the Red Carpet.

Given that tonight was a big night for many actors and actresses- I was particularly vetting for Meryl Streep. She has received more than 15 nominations and won her first one as the Best Acress In A Leading Role in 1982 for the movie, Sophie's Choice. This year, she is nominated for the same, but for the movie, Julie & Julia, where she portrayed famous chef Julia Childs.

That said- I was a bit disappointed with her wardrobe choice. Her dress was designed by Chris March of Project Runway. I found the dress too "Drape-y", bland, and "low-energy". I don't think the dress complemented her figure and age. I was hoping she would wear something that showed off her beautiful shoulders and neckline. This would have elongated her neck and made her look timelessly elegant.

Maybe its the drapery at the bottom that i am unsettled with. Because I actually don't mind the dress from the waist up. The drapery at the bottom takes away from her height- perhaps the bottom could have been more like a flute, so that it would balance out her shoulders and elongate her legs.

Nevertheless, I did love the dress of Cameron Diaz and i knew INSTANTANEOUSLY it was an OSCAR!!!! I fell in love with a similar dress when I was shopping for bridal gowns. Here are comparisons:

Both dresses have very simple silhouettes; but are still ornately adorned. Absolutely timeless!

PS: I also did not like Sarah Jessica Parker’s dress- the one she wore while presenting. It looked like a sack with a decorated neckline. =(

That’s it for now….

Goodnight Moon.

Anyway, I'm glad tomorrow is Friday and I'm even more excited for Saturday! I get to see my favorite ladies (+ gents), kick back, relax, AND look glamorous!

Though it has remained unsaid, I'm sure that as always, my friends and I will be dressing to the nines. i'm excited! (in case i haven't said that enough already)

Here's a snapshot of what is on my table as a I blog:

I want to write more but I have to watch Private Practice and let my nails dry- so i'll blog more later.

Day 10 - March 03 2010

Hello World

Nothing too out of the ordinary today except that I woke up at approximately 430am to the sound of rain against my window- and I absolutely loved it!!!

The rain made me want to roll around in bed all day- unfortunately 2 hours later, I had to get up and face reality.

Nonetheless, here are a few photos I snapped today....the one of the cake is actually a photo my snapped last sunday (Day 7). The mold was given to me by my in laws- I love it! I think they bought it from Williams Sonoma.

Big foot spotted:

When Spunky's toys are in his peripheral- there is only one thing he is thinking of:

I liked the composition of this photo. I could summarize it in one word: Linear

et voila, the contemporary bundt cake mold:

Thats it for now....

Day 9 - March 02 2010

Hello Word

Today I was especially thankful for my husband. Since I've been so busy with work, I didn't have time to make my lunch. So, when lunch time came around, I wondered what he packed for me...

It was the most delicious sandwich! It was whole grain bread with chimichurri sauce, pepper tuna spread, mozarella, and baby spinach. Of course, I microwaved it so the cheese would melt onto the tuna. PLUS- I also had an extra Russell Stover Chocolate Covered Marshmallow in my bag, which made my lunch all the more better!

Luckily my schedule at work is starting to calm down but ending my working spree with a sandwich made with such care and love and of course a chocolate covered marshmallow made all the long nights work it!

I absolutely love starting and ending my days with him and Spunky (our 3 year old Maltese).

Yesterday was my dad's birthday; and today is one of my best friend's bday. On Saturday- the red lipstick, smokey eyes, tight dresses, and high heels come out. Sloane, here we come!!!

Goodnight Moon.

Day 8 - March 01 2010

Hello World,
*Happy Bday Daddy!!!*

Again, this blog is a day late but its the thought and effort that counts - I hope.

Anyway, with my super slammed schedule, I barely had time to snap any photos yesterday but I will share this:

As much as stress can be caused by what others have thrown our way- we are just as accountable. We fill our own plates and if we aren't careful, our plate may get too full. Yet at the end of day, it is up to us to handle what we put on our plate.

So- lets do it one at a time, in an orderly fashion. Or atleast try to.

Nevertheless during stressful times like these...it is especially important to know what we enjoy and to take time (even just a few minutes) out for it.

Personally, I enjoy/love/am dangerously obsessed with Russell Stover's Marshmallows covered in Milk Chocolate!!!!!

They are SOOO DELICIOUS AND they are less than 60 cents each at Walgreens!
*PS - I did not take that photo.

Until later....Hello Moon.
